At SportsmedNQ Fulham Road we are dedicated to helping you recover, move, and perform at your best. Specialising in orthopaedic rehabilitation, particularly for knee and shoulder conditions, we work closely with local orthopaedic surgeons to provide seamless, evidence-based care.
As a multidisciplinary clinic, our team includes physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, and massage therapists, ensuring a comprehensive approach to your recovery. Whether you need hands-on therapy, guided exercise programs, or targeted soft tissue treatment, we provide individualised care to help you achieve the best possible outcomes.
We also have an on-site rehabilitation gym, allowing us to deliver supervised exercise therapy tailored to your recovery needs. This ensures you can safely rebuild strength, mobility, and function under expert guidance.
At SportsmedNQ Fulham Road we welcome a range of patients, including private patients, WorkCover, Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA), third-party patients, and NDIS

Paul Parker
Physiotherapist and Clinic Partner
Paul graduated from Sydney University and started Sportsmed NQ in 1995 which has since grown to 3 locations. Paul has been Team Physiotherapist for National Sports Teams (Crocodiles NBL basketball Team 12 yrs and Fury A league soccer team 2 yrs). More recently Paul has concentrated on Pre and Post Op rehabilitation of Knees and Shoulders and works closely with many Townsville Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is involved with post op knee and shoulder clinics in rooms with local surgeons. Outside of work Paul is kept busy with his children’s sports and has a love of wine.
Paul now works out of the Fulham Road Clinic.
Christopher O’Dempsey
Physiotherapist
Chris graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and has a keen interest in treating musculoskeletal, sporting and post-operative injuries. Having grown up in Townsville, Chris played a range of sports including hockey, swimming and rowing, and is an avid rugby league supporter. Chris is also an active member in the Townsville sporting community, having provided coverage for local soccer, netball and AFL, alongside working as a high school rowing coach since 2017.
Jessica Waller

I recently graduated from James Cook University (JCU) and have a passion for physiotherapy and a special interest in the sporting aspect of the profession. Having worked as a sports trainer, I bring a hands-on, practical approach to injury management and rehabilitation. Outside of work, I love going on walks and exploring new adventures, embracing opportunities to stay active and connect with the outdoors. Through my journey as a physiotherapist, I am eager to help others reach their full potential and recover from injuries with personalized care and support.
Debora (Debbie) Lewis
Remedial Message Therapist
Debbie delivers treatments for remedial, deep tissue, relaxation, pregnancy, sports massage, TMJ dysfunction, hot stones and Indian head massage.
Debbie is an experienced massage therapist and holds a Diploma of Remedial Massage and is health fund registered and a member of the Association of Massage Therapists. Debbie specialises in the treatment of TMJ dysfunction and headaches. TMJ dysfunction may include jaw pain, clicking, clenching of the jaw, neck and shoulder pain to mention a few. Debbie’s massage treatments are designed to help reduce pain and discomfort whilst improving movement. Hot stone massage is also offered to allow heat to radiate to deeper muscle tissue and Indian head massage incorporates hot stones, a scalp massage and finishes with a face massage. This stimulates circulation and may assist any sinus sufferers.
In Debbie’s spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and travelling both overseas and in Australia.

With over 20 years of experience in business administration, I thrive on creating efficient and effective practices that drive success. My professional journey has been guided by a commitment to “taking the time to make time,” ensuring that every moment spent in the workplace contributes to meaningful outcomes.
Outside of work, I enjoy watching WWE wrestling and cherish quality time with my family, adding a touch of fun and balance to my busy life. I believe in the importance of blending professionalism with personal passions, making me both a dedicated manager and an engaged community member.
Maddie

Originally from Tully, i was posted here when in the defence force but decided to discharge as it was not for me. I have a strong passion for playing/coaching touch football and also Crossfit. As well as working at Sportsmed, I am also a CrossFit coach at a local crossfit gym. I enjoy the challenge, the nature of crossfit and the sense of community it brings. Whether in the gym or on the field, i thrive on the energy and motivation that comes from being active.
Balancing my love for sports with quality time spent with friends makes for a fulfilling lifestyle.
Shannon McEwen
Physiotherapist
Shannon graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2017. She spent her graduate years working at Sportsmed NQ and has returned to Townsville after six years living and working as a Physiotherapist in the United Kingdom. Shannon has a special interest in the rehabilitation of both acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries and has completed further studies on the management of persistent pain at Brunel University London. Outside of work Shannon enjoys spending time with friends and family and travelling as much as she can.
Kyle Gostelow
Exercise Physiologist
Kyle graduated from James Cook University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science before completing a Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology in 2025.
He is very passionate about helping people move better, feel stronger, and live healthier lives and takes a personalized supportive approach to care. Kyle works with individuals of all ages and abilities to develop realistic, evidence-based exercise strategies to improve physical and mental wellbeing.
Kyle is committed to making exercise accessible and sustainable, with experience supporting clients managing chronic health conditions, pain, fatigue, and other injury-related concerns.
