Unlock a pain-free, active lifestyle with physiotherapy – designed to speed up recovery, enhance mobility, and ease discomfort so you can live your best life.

What is Physiotherapy and how can it help?
Physiotherapy is a trusted healthcare profession that focuses on assessing, diagnosing, and treating a range of conditions, aiming to restore function and prevent further injury or disability. Physiotherapists are highly trained professionals who specialize in understanding how the body moves and how to optimize that movement. Whether your challenges stem from an accident, injury, a lifelong condition, or age-related changes, physiotherapy offers personalized care to help you regain mobility, alleviate pain, and improve overall quality of life. Beyond recovery, a physiotherapist will work closely with you to develop a tailored treatment plan, set achievable goals, and ensure long-term wellness, guiding you toward a future of greater movement and reduced discomfort.
What to expect on your first visit
At SportsMed NQ, we are committed to providing you with comprehensive care from the moment you contact us. Our experienced administrative team will assist you in selecting the most appropriate practitioner for your needs.
We offer HICAPS facilities, allowing you to process claims on the spot through your health fund (subject to your coverage). We also accept referrals from doctors for WorkCover, third-party insurers, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Medicare Care (bulk billing available) and NDIS.
As a new patient, we kindly request that you arrive a few minutes prior to your appointment to complete the necessary paperwork. Please bring any relevant documentation, such as a doctor’s referral or X-ray reports, to assist in your assessment.
Your initial appointment will typically last between 30 to 45 minutes. During this time, your physiotherapist will conduct a thorough assessment by asking detailed questions about the onset and nature of your symptoms, including any factors that may aggravate or alleviate your condition. A physical examination of the affected area will follow to help diagnose the underlying cause. We will then discuss various treatment options and provide immediate treatment, alongside recommendations for recovery and self-management at home. Our goal is to help you recover as quickly and safely as possible.
In addition to rehabilitation, we offer injury prevention services, providing advice on how to avoid common injuries, whether you are an athlete or a worker.
For an optimal assessment, your physiotherapist may request that you wear a gown (available in the clinic), or appropriate clothing such as shorts or a strapless/sleeveless shirt, depending on the treatment area.
We look forward to helping you on your path to recovery. Contact us today to schedule your first appointment.

Our services and specialisations
Musculoskeletal Conditions
Musculoskeletal conditions affect bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Our physiotherapists can help manage pain, improve mobility, and restore function. Treatment includes exercises, manual therapy, and education, providing long-term relief and preventing future injury or discomfort.
Sport Injuries
Sport injuries can result from overuse or trauma. Our Physiotherapists treat sprains, strains, fractures, and joint injuries by reducing pain, improving movement, and facilitating recovery. Early intervention ensures faster recovery, minimizes the risk of re-injury, and enhances performance.
Whiplash, Headaches, and Migraines
Whiplash, headaches, and migraines are often linked to neck and upper back dysfunction. Our Physiotherapists can help alleviate pain, restore movement, and reduce tension. Treatment includes manual therapy, posture correction, and specialized exercises to minimize recurrence.
Injury Prevention, Preseason Assessments, and Return to Sport Testing
Our physiotherapists can assess movement patterns, strength, and flexibility to prevent injuries. Preseason assessments ensure optimal readiness, while return-to-sport testing helps athletes safely resume activity after injury. Prevention strategies focus on strengthening and improving coordination for injury-free performance.
Orthopaedic and Pre/Post Surgery Management
Physiotherapy plays a crucial role in orthopaedic care, both pre- and post-surgery. Pre-surgery physiotherapy strengthens muscles and prepares joints, while post-surgery rehabilitation focuses on restoring mobility, strength, and function, helping you return to daily activities faster.
Vestibular Rehabilitation
Vestibular rehabilitation treats balance disorders caused by inner ear or brain dysfunction. Our physiotherapists can design specific exercises to improve balance, reduce dizziness, and enhance coordination. Treatment helps individuals regain confidence and independence in their everyday activities.
Chest Physio/Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Chest physiotherapy and pulmonary rehabilitation aid in improving lung function and respiratory health. Treatment involves breathing exercises, airway clearance, and strength training to manage conditions like COPD, asthma, or post-surgical recovery, promoting overall wellness.
Neurological Rehabilitation
Neurological rehabilitation assists individuals recovering from conditions like stroke, Parkinson’s, and multiple sclerosis. Our physiotherapists use targeted exercises and techniques to improve movement, strength, and coordination, enhancing daily function and quality of life for those with neurological impairments.
Chronic Pain Management
Chronic pain management through physiotherapy focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of long-term pain. Techniques like manual therapy, exercise, and education aim to reduce pain, increase mobility, and improve quality of life, fostering long-term relief.
Paediatric Development
Paediatric physiotherapy supports the developmental needs of children with movement disorders or delays. Our physiotherapists work on motor skills, posture, and strength to enhance coordination, independence, and overall development, supporting children as they grow.
Pre-Employment Assessments
Pre-employment assessments evaluate an individual’s physical capabilities and suitability for a role. Physiotherapists assess movement patterns, strength, and flexibility to ensure the individual can perform job-specific tasks safely and reduce the risk of work-related injuries.
Dry Needling
Dry needling targets muscle trigger points to relieve pain and improve movement. This technique uses fine needles to stimulate healing and decrease muscle tension. It can complement other treatments for a range of musculoskeletal conditions.
Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy uses acoustic waves to treat musculoskeletal injuries, particularly chronic pain and tendon injuries. It promotes healing, reduces inflammation, and enhances tissue regeneration. This non-invasive treatment is effective for conditions like tendinitis, calcific shoulder tendinopathy, and plantar fasciitis.
Bloodflow Restriction Training (BFR)
Bloodflow restriction training (BFR) is a rehabilitation technique that involves restricting blood flow to muscles during exercise. This stimulates muscle growth and strength with lighter weights, promoting recovery and improving strength in individuals recovering from injury or surgery.
Realtime Ultrasound
Realtime ultrasound provides real-time imaging of muscle function, assisting physiotherapists in assessing and diagnosing musculoskeletal conditions. It helps in visualizing muscle activation patterns and improving treatment strategies for better outcomes, particularly for core and pelvic floor rehabilitation.
VALD Assessments
VALD assessments provide objective data on strength, movement, and performance. These assessments help physiotherapists develop personalized rehabilitation and injury prevention programs, ensuring tailored treatment that maximizes recovery and reduces the risk of injury.
Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy uses water-based exercises to aid in rehabilitation. The buoyancy of water reduces joint stress while providing resistance for strengthening. It is particularly beneficial for individuals with arthritis, back pain, or those recovering from surgery, promoting mobility and reducing pain.
Sports Coverage
Sports coverage involves physiotherapists being present during games or events to provide immediate injury management. They assess, treat, and support athletes to prevent further injury and ensure a safe return to play, minimizing downtime and enhancing performance recovery.
